Flights have been temporarily banned from six African countries as they’re added on the UK’s red list. From 4 a.m. on Sunday, people travelling to the UK from South Africa will need to quarantine in a hotel for ten days, at a cost of more than 2,000 pounds ($2,700). It comes amid concerns over a new virus variant detected in South Africa, with reports it’s already spread to Europe. The health secretary says not much is yet known about it, but emphasised the importance of moving quickly.
