No More Food Waste: An Easy Way to Turn Food Scraps into Fertilizer

If you like natural fertilizer for the garden, but hate the hard work and messy process, Zera Food Recycler is the answer for you.

Zera is Whirlpool’s new product of 2017, which can turn food waste into fertilizer within 24 hours. It is small enough to fit into any kitchen, and can be used all year around.

Zera Food Recycler uses a mixture of oxygen, moisture, heat, and mixing to speed the decomposition process; making it easy and convenient to get rid of food scraps. Just make sure it has a carbon filter to reduce odor, and add a plant-based additive to assist in the breakdown process.

The product has been presented at CES 2017 and is now available for pre-orders.

To break down one week’s worth of food into fertilizer, ‘Zera food recycler‘ uses a combination of oxygen, moisture, heat and mixing to expedite the decomposition process. In contrast to traditional methods of composting, families are able to use the Zera system all year-round, regardless of the weather, and can remotely operate the appliance through an easy-to-use phone app.
