G-7 leaders will make a common commitment to fighting terrorism when they meet in Sicily later this week, Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni said on May 23.
This comes after the Monday night suicide bombing that killed 22 people in Manchester.
“We are working in these hours that the strongest possible message of a common, extraordinary commitment against terrorism is sent from G-7 Taormina. We will have the opportunity to reiterate together at Taormina, that the cowardice that destroys the lives of young people will not prevail over our freedom,” said Gentiloni.
Gentiloni said he would speak on the phone with British Prime Minister Theresa May to express Italy’s solidarity and condolences.
He added that at the moment there was no news of any Italians killed or injured in the attack.
