President Trump gave Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn a full pardon this week, ending a four-year criminal odyssey for the retired 3-star general.
Flynn was Trump’s national security advisor in the early days of his administration and importantly—during the transition period. That was when he spoke to the Russian Ambassador to the United States and Flynn’s troubles started.
In 2017, the FBI interviewed Flynn about that call and subsequently accused the general of lying about what was discussed. Flynn pleaded guilty, but later withdrew his plea, saying he only accepted a plea deal because prosecutors were threatening his son with charges.
