Shen Yun Performing Arts took the stage in Mühlheim, Germany—giving four performances in early March.

Audience members marveled at the show’s artistic beauty.

“I think the artistic performance is excellent—the movements, the gestures of the artists, this harmony with the music,” said Jürgen Heinrich Block, a painter.

“The choreography and the costumes and the agility, this wonderful talent of the dancers, and also the soloists, were wonderful,” said Metin Senocak, president of Turkish Community Oberhausen.

“It is the summation of dance and music, one feels the inside of the performers, that they live what they dance. What they live by and the music are vibrations that touch the soul, and it was exactly the wavelength that touched me—I found it so ingenious,” said Angela Montenegro, a neurologist.

The company’s mission is to revive the essence of Chinese culture through performing arts—with ancient China traditionally considered a divinely-inspired civilization.

“In today’s society, values have been lost way too much,” said Montenegro. “I think to feel this—the connection with the above, to the divine, to the Dao—is so important, and I find it great to feel this here in this performance. That is what is being lived here.”

“I think it brings back good humor and hope, and a little more feeling of life and also the value of life, which one has lost a little bit in the last somewhat dreadful time—one feels much more alive,” said Wladislawa Wiesner, a data protection coordinator.

The essence of ancient Chinese culture has been systematically destroyed under the current communist regime since it took power in 1949, up through today.

Among the stories Shen Yun brings to the stage are pieces inspired by the current persecution of Falun Dafa—a spiritual discipline that focuses on meditation and moral improvement based on truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance.

“I thought it was great that this was expressed, what Falun Dafa actually is, the connection to the old values that I think have also been lost in our Western society,” said Montenegro.

“You can feel that there is also a message: to teach what you are no longer allowed to do in China and what the human values are—aesthetics, education, culture, to help with each other and each other. All these things come across, but also the frustration that you can’t live them in China,” said Heinrich Block.

“I only hope that as many people as possible feel the same way as I do, and that these vibrations that Falun Dafa conveys, the compassion and all these principles, humanity above all, are felt, and that the people who see this performance simply leave with a different feeling,” said Montenegro.

“We will definitely recommend them with all our heart,” said Senocak.
