German police have detained a man associated with two arrested terrorist suspects.

The man is identified only as Maximilian T., a 27-year-old German citizen.

“The accused is strongly suspected of planning a severe act of violence against the state out of a right-wing extremist conviction, together with Franco A. and Matthias F. already detained in April,” said Federal Prosecutor’s Office spokeswoman, prosecutor Frauke Koehler.

The three had planned to attack politicians who favored liberal immigration and refugee policies. They planned to make their attack look like the work of Islamist extremists.

Former President Joachim Gauck and Justice Minister Heiko Maas were potential targets.
