Is it too cold to get outside? Especially at the seaside in the frigid gale. But you will probably get rewarded if you venture out from your warm couch.
In the mild winter, the ice covered on the sea or lake is thinner. When sheets of thin ice are blown by gales to the shore, it breaks into shards and piles on the shoreline, which creates the stunning phenomenon called ‘ice stacking.’
This amazing footage is filmed on the edge of Lake Superior on its Western side in Minnesota, the USA. “I am in awe and mesmerized by ice stacking (and waves), and spent hours immersed in the sights and sounds of one of my favorite winter occurrences, despite the subzero temps and frigid breeze,” wrote the author.
If you don’t have the opportunity to brave the freezing weather to see the astonishing phenomenon, watch the video to have a glistening treat!
