Arizona GOP presidential elector and party chairwoman Kelli Ward filed an elections contest petition on Nov. 24.

The petition challenges the state’s signature verification process for mail-in ballots and seeks to allow an early inspection to begin in advance of a formal lawsuit on Nov. 30.

Arizona is expected to complete its canvass on Nov. 30.

Lawsuits challenging the canvass can only be filed after that date. Ward says she will be filing an official lawsuit challenging the canvass on Nov. 30.

In a statement, the chairwoman pointed out that Arizona mailed out around 3.5 million mail-in ballots in this year’s general election, but the only form of identity verification is a signature on the return envelope. She argues that this verification process is legally insufficient.
