One London man is working his way to the finish line of a marathon that began five days ago. He expects to finish in two more days, long after all the other runners have gone home. But he runs on his hands and knees, or sometimes on his hands and feet. It’s because he is Mr. Gorilla, and he’s running to raise money for gorillas and people in Africa.

Tom Harrison, who turns into Mr. Gorilla for charity, spoke about his successes, “I’ve raised just over 20,000 and the money’s going to be used by the gorilla organisation out in Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo to support projects that protect endangered gorillas. So this will be things like sponsoring ranger services who track and monitor the gorilla groups, it will be projects that help the people on the fringe of the forest to be self-sufficient, so things like solar power, eco-stoves and training in organic farming.”

Mr. Gorilla’s children will be waiting for him at the finish line.
