Grandpa gracefully skating through SF’s Rolling Road

You’re never too old to have fun, or in this case roller skate.

Carefully balancing his body, 85-year-old Zigfried Stuhl glided down the steep California Street, gracefully skating through the blocks. And proving that age doesn’t matter.

He picked the old style rollers with smaller wheels to help control speed.

Stuhl said that he personally wouldn’t recommend people skating on steep ground.

“It’s a little bit steep, but it’s no problem for me. But I wouldn’t recommend it too much,” he said.

Nicknamed as “Ziggy”, he had conquered Lombard St, California’s famous steep section with eight hairpin turns previously.

He said he just wants people to be more active and skating can help promote moving.

“I just want to give a message that people should skate a lot more, or even running, but skating is very healthy.”

Playing with skates for 75 years, Stuhl feels that it has become a major part of his life. When traveling abroad, he is still gliding. He can even glide with one foot.

Stay cool and forget about your age. Grandpa “Ziggy” wishes more people could enjoy outdoor events.

“If I make it to 90’s, I will skate. Yeah!”
