Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s continuous suppression of Chinese tech giants is signaling a change of heart: He wants to return to the Mao Zedong era—the era of the Cultural Revolution and bloodshed through political struggle. This is a recent move to curb privatization and, in turn, any chance of political deviation. It’s also a chance for Xi Jinping to rein in more power.
