Weddings are never just about the bride and groom. The ceremony is a life moment that marks that important day for so many people who have shared parts of their own journey with the couple getting married. The wedding of Kristeena Luke Rheault was certainly that and a lot more.

Luke’s mom had been diagnosed with myotrophic laterals sclerosis (ALS) about a year before he was to marry Kristeena. The wedding took place in November of 2008 and the year prior had taken its toll on Luke’s mom, causing her to need a wheelchair. They didn’t know it at the time, but ALS would take the life of Luke’s mother about a year later.

The bride and groom shared this moving moment from their wedding reception when Luke danced with his mom from her wheelchair. Luke dancing on his knees as he embraced his mom was precious. Kristeena said the tears were flowing and there wasn’t a dry eye to be had. That precious moment of a son, now married, sharing an intimate moment on their wedding day.

Luke and all who loved his mom lost her to ALS in September of 2009. She left behind a husband, six children, and several grandchildren.
