This is Luke Aikins, an American skydiver. He’s 42, and went down in the history books as the first person to complete a jump from 25,000 feet without a parachute. The jump was completed in Simi Valley, California.

The video shows him falling for a heart stopping minute before he flips onto his back and crashes into the landing net. After a moment, the net is lowered and Aikins emerges to give his wife probably the best hug of her life in celebration.

“The words I want to say I can’t even get out of my mouth,” he says in an interview clip after the jump. “It is awesome.”
