Canadian actress Mamie Laverock, known for her work on the Hallmark Channel’s television drama series “When Calls the Heart,” has been placed on life support due to “life-threatening injuries” she sustained from a five-story fall, according to a GoFundMe page created by her family.

The incident occurred at a Vancouver hospital where the 19-year-old was receiving treatment for an undisclosed medical emergency, which she suffered on May 11, per a statement shared on the fundraiser page organized by Nicole Compton—Ms. Laverock’s mother—and her husband, Rob Compton.

“Nicole traveled to Winnipeg to help Mamie, who was having a medical emergency. Nicole was able to get there in time to save her life. Then got her to a hospital in Winnipeg. Mamie has since been transferred to [a] hospital here in Vancouver. Her recovery is unclear at this time but she is alive and is showing signs of improvement,” the statement reads.

“We are trying to go every day to support her,” the couple continued. “Any contributions would help us be by her side. But this could be upwards of a month or more.”

However, the family later shared an update on the GoFundMe page, which had garnered $17,534 Canadian dollars ($12,848) in donations as of Tuesday evening.

“We are deeply saddened to report that on May 26th, Mamie, who has been in intensive treatment for the past two weeks, was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories,” the couple wrote.

“She sustained life threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support,” they continued. “We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.”

‘A Devastating Time’

After learning of Ms. Laverock’s fall, several of the actress’ co-stars took to social media to express their sadness over the news and share positive wishes for her recovery.

On Monday, actress Johannah Newmarch—who portrays Molly Sullivan, Ms. Laverock’s mother on “When Calls the Heart”—shared the link to the GoFundMe account on social media.

“I love this family, my heart is broken. A devastating time for all who care for Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to make it through this,” she wrote.

That same day, fellow “When Calls the Heart” star Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth Thornton on the series, shared a screenshot of the fundraising page to her Instagram account, writing: “I just donated. If you have the means to do so, I hope you will too.”

Mitchell Kummen, who appeared on the Hallmark drama series from 2014 to 2015, penned a brief message on X on Tuesday, writing: “Please pray for my friend Mamie. We need a miracle and the power of prayer and love.”

A Rising Star

Ms. Laverock first rose to prominence in the 2012 comedy flick “This Means War,” which featured an ensemble cast led by Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy, and Angela Bassett.

Two years later, she was cast in an episode of the television series “Psych,” before landing a role in the 2017 horror-mystery film “The Hollow Child,” which also starred Ms. Newmarch. The movie also featured Ms. Laverock’s sister, Laiken Laverock. “So proud to have a little part in this big film!” the actress wrote on Facebook in June 2017. “An amazing chance to work with my real life sister Laiken Laverock and the talented cast and crew of The Hollow Child.”

The following year, she portrayed the character Penny in the Hallmark Channel movie “Wedding of Dreams” alongside Mr. Kummen.

After appearing in two episodes of the Netflix series “A Series of Unfortunate Events” in 2019, the actress was cast in the 2020 holiday film “Spotlight on Christmas.”

According to her IMDb page, Ms. Laverock’s last acting credit is “When Calls the Heart,” which she starred in from 2014 to 2023. In 2015, Ms. Laverock was honored for her work on the show, garnering the award for best performance in a television series for a recurring young actress 10 and under at the 36th Annual Young Artist Awards.

In addition to her acting, the young star has also released music, sharing several of her songs to her Facebook account, including the single “The Game.” In a post published on the social networking site in August 2020, Ms. Laverock noted that the song was the first one she’d ever written and released. “So excited to share it with you all,” she wrote.

The following month, she highlighted another memorable moment in her music career.

“Today is the big day,” she captioned on Facebook. “First Radio Play for my First Single ‘The Game’ in just a few hours.” In 2021, she released the single “Lonely.” A portion of the lyrics go: “Lonely, a feeling you get when you feel alone. Lonely, why do I feel so alone?”
