Harsh winds toppled two trucks on the Gov. Mario Cuomo/Tappan Zee Bridge on Friday, March 2, officials said.
ABC7 in New York reported that the New York Department of Transportation is now prohibiting trailers, buses, and motorcycles from going on the bridge.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service, a high wind warning is in effect in the New York metropolitan area until 6 a.m. Saturday. Winds with gusts up to 60 mph are slated for the area.
And, it added, that the “strongest winds this afternoon and tonight.”

“Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” the alert said.
The weather service noted: “A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.”
