Harvey Weinstein, the former Hollywood producer who was found guilty of rape and sexual assault, was redirected to a hospital on his way to jail on Rikers Island on Monday.

Weinstein’s high profile case at the Manhattan Supreme Court had just concluded after five days of deliberations. Court officers had handcuffed the 67-year-old movie mogul and led him out of the courtroom.

While on his way to jail in an ambulance, however, Weinstein was suffering from high blood pressure and heart palpitations, according to his representative Juda Engelmayer.

A medic in the ambulance had to make a call to redirect Weinstein to a hospital, Engelmayer added.

As of Monday night, Weinstein was at the Bellevue Hospital, which serves jail inmates and is known for its psychiatric facilities.

According to Page Six, Weinstein was in the hospital’s prison ward with no handcuffs but was kept under close watch by officers.

His attorney Donna Rotunno told Fox News that he is under observation.

It is unclear when he will be transferred to Rikers Island.

A jury of seven men and five women found Weinstein guilty of raping aspiring actress Jessica Mann in 2013, and sexually assaulting former production assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006.

Assistant District Attorney Meghan Hast said during her opening statement, “The power and balance he deviously exploited were not just physical, it was also professional and profoundly psychological.”

The first-degree sexual assault charge carries up to 25 years in prison and third-degree rape is punishable by up to four years.

He was acquitted of two other charges of predatory sexual assault that carried a possible life sentence.

Judge James Burke had ordered Weinstein to be taken to jail until his sentencing on March 11.

More than 80 women accused him of sexual misconduct, including several high-profile actresses, but Weinstein denied all allegations saying all sexual encounters were consensual.

“He knows that we will continue to fight for him, and we know that this is not over,” attorney Donna Rotunno said.
