Head of Slovak Confucius Institute Fired After Threatening Expert

The director of a Beijing-funded Confucius Institute in Slovakia has been fired for threatening a local expert after the expert addressed Beijing’s infiltration into the academic circles of the Central European country.

The director of the institute (Ľuboslav Stora) began sending threatening emails to the expert and researcher Matej Šimalčík. The Slovak researcher is also the head of a local think tank on Asian studies.
