Patient rescuers save hedgehog from cattle guard trap set in the ground

Having sheep is sometimes quite tricky. Especially when you live in Ireland, where there are endless green meadows for them to graze. Unfortunately, sheep won’t stop at the border of their farmer’s property.

To keep their sheep penned and on the proper field, farmers install fences and large cattle guards on the roads. But, small animals fall through the grate and get trapped in the hole below. This is what happened to this unfortunate hedgehog. Luckily for him, the farmers noticed after a few days and were able to rescue him.

After their first improvised rescuing apparatuses failed, the patient rescuers were finally able to lure him with cat food stuffed into the back of a long skinny container.  They eventually were able to free the hedgehog and release it back into the wild.
