Supermodel Heidi Klum has been “secretly” married to German musician Tom Kaulitz for several months now.
The two tied the knot in February, after obtaining a marriage license, reported TMZ.
The “secret wedding” comes just two months after their engagement on Feb. 22, the same day Klum said they met, according to TMZ.
Klum and Kaulitz, who is 17 years her junior, got engaged last Christmas, announcing the news on Instagram with a black-and-white photo of the two of them and the ring.
She captioned the image with “I SAID YES.”
Ahead of her surprise wedding, Klum told Entertainment Tonight that she and Kaulitz already had a wedding date in mind.
She didn’t elaborate, however, but hinted at what was to come.
“Yeah, I think we did [set a date],” she told the outlet. “But you will find out eventually.”
She continued, “We’re two Germans, it will be very organized and on time. Very, very much on time and very organized.”
On Feb. 22, the alleged date of the wedding, Klum shared a photo on Instagram.
“A year ago today,” she captioned the photo of the two at dinner. Feb. 22, 2018, is also the day they first met, Klum said, according to TMZ.
The two were first spotted together in March 2018 and made their red carpet debut together at the Cannes amfAR Gala.
Following their public appearance together, Klum said she began receiving criticism for being with a man 17 years younger than her.
“Lately, I’m being reminded more about my age by people other than myself,” Klum said in an interview with InStyle in July 2018. “My boyfriend is many years younger than me, and lots of people are questioning that and asking about it. That’s really the only time when age seems to be shoved in my face and I have to give an answer for it.”
“I don’t really think about it that much otherwise. You have to just live a happy life without worrying too much about what people think because worrying is only going to give you more wrinkles,” Klum added.
This is the third marriage for Klum. She was previously married to singer Seal for nine years, with whom she shares three children. She also has a daughter from her relationship with Flavio Briatore. Her first marriage was with celebrity hair stylist Ric Pipino.
Klum opened up about marriage in an interview earlier this year on The Ellen DeGenerous Show.
“I’ve been married twice. I still believe in love and marriage. I do. Even though I’ve failed twice at it. I guess I’m not very good at it,” Klum said on the show in January. “But…I found a great person. Let’s see what happens.”
In September 2018, Klum opened up her relationship with Kaulitz at the America’s Got Talent semifinals live show screening and red carpet.
“He is the kindest, sweetest, most caring, loving person. I feel so lucky. I don’t know the last time I was this happy in my life,” she told People magazine at the time. “He is absolutely wonderful. Maybe it is because he is German and we understand each other in a different way. But so far so good.”
