Managers at high-end residential buildings in New York City are reportedly hiring off duty police to protect the properties. Sources told the New York Post the buildings have always had a lot of security, but now there will be more—including officers with sub-machine guns.

The city is preparing for unrest on Election Day by beefing up security and boarding up storefronts. Peaceful protests against police brutality have devolved into violent riots that have destroyed property and left businesses ransacked in cities across the country.
