The Holiday Train Show has begun, are you ready take a ride?

At the New York Botanical Garden in New York City, about a dozen model trains weaves in and out of historical New York City landscapes, highlighted by more than 175 New York City landmarks.

“All of the buildings are created using a framework and then pieces of plants – leaves, pine cones, seeds, nutshells are actually affixed to the buildings to provide all of the detail, all of the mullions in the windows, all of the pediment decorations, columns. Every architectural detail is made from plants,” said Joanna Groarke, the New York Botanical Garden’s director of public engagement and library exhibitions curator.

With 27 years of history, the show has become a New York tradition that is enjoyed by both children and adults.

“Visitors to the garden will be immersed in a holiday wonderland,” said Joanna Groarke.

Every year, something new is added to the show.

“This year we have created a tribute to the resilience of Lower Manhattan. We have a collection of new buildings that were added to our collection, including One World Trade Center,” said Joanna Groarke.

The Holiday Train Show will run through Jan. 21, 2019.
