While people are celebrating New Year’s Day, Hong Kong’s media tycoon Jimmy Lai has to be back in custody. He’s the most high-profile person to be charged under the national security law.

Hong Kong’s top court revoked Jimmy Lai’s bail after accepting the local government’s appeal. His company owns Apple Daily, a newspaper that openly criticizes the Chinese communist regime.
