Authorities are tightening their grip on Hong Kong’s civil servants, a group of almost 200,000 people.
Hong Kong’s Civil Service Bureau issued a notice this Monday, asking all civil servants to uphold Hong Kong’s basic law, and swear allegiance to the city’s government.
Those who started working before July have to sign a written statement and high-level officials have to take oaths.
The government warned that acting against the oath would lead to serious consequences.
