The trial of 47 Hong Kong pro-democracy activists resumed on Monday.

They are being charged under the national security law imposed by Beijing. The law punishes what Beijing broadly defines as subversion, secession, terrorism, and collusion with foreign forces. Authorities can punish violators with up to life in prison.
