A Hong Kong court granted bail on April 24 to former Chief Executive Donald Tsang, who was sentenced to 20 months in prison in February for misconduct in public office.
He is the most senior city official to serve time behind bars.
Tsang was transferred to court for his bail hearing from a hospital, where he was moved to after complaining of breathing problems in prison.
A court found Tsang guilty of misconduct in office between 2010 and 2012. Tsang hid rental negotiations with property tycoon Bill Wong Cho-bau while his Cabinet approved a broadcasting license to a company that Wong held a major stake in.
Tsang, 72, denied graft and pleaded not guilty. He will be out on bail until he appeals.
