Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with officials in Israel Wednesday for high-stakes discussions on the war in the Gaza Strip. And while Mr. Blinken was there, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that with or without a hostage deal, the Israel Defense Forces are going into Rafah.
NTD spoke to Aryeh Lightstone, a former adviser to the U.S. ambassador to Israel and a former special envoy for the Abraham Accords. He shared his analysis on a possible hostage deal, and on the likely political repercussions if the invasion of Rafah should go ahead. He said the Biden administration is exerting enormous pressure on Israel to accept a hostage deal that would allow the Hamas terrorist organization to survive and remain in Gaza.
