At a press briefing on April 26, House Speaker Paul Ryan said the House was working on a spending bill.

Ryan outlined the bill’s budget priorities that included increased military spending and tax reform.

Ryan said that on a recent trip to Europe, NATO allies had expressed their desire to see America “step up and lead again,” which meant rebuilding the military.

Ryan also noted that the Trump administration was about to reveal its principles for pro-growth tax reform.

“Pro-growth tax reform means that we will have lower rates, we will have a simpler tax code with lower brackets, and we will have an IRS that exists only to serve the taxpayer,” Ryan explained.

In response to a reporter’s question, Ryan assured everyone that the relevant House committees were working closely with the White house to make sure the spending bill the House finally offered would address the needs of both branches of government.

“We’re moving and getting on the same page,” Ryan said.

He also renewed the pledge to repeal and replace “Obamacare.”
