Former FBI special agent Nicole Parker testified before the House subcommittee on weaponization. Parker was emotional as she told lawmakers she resigned from the bureau after it became “politically weaponized.” Retired FBI special agent Marc Ruskin has warned about this for years. Ruskin tells NTD that he’s not surprised agents are coming forward and that it’s frustrating for field agents who have historically been objective. He says the public wouldn’t have known about this issue had the subcommittee not been formed, and now that it has, it will hopefully lead to a restructuring of the FBI “to make it into an objective and independent agency as it used to be that defends our democracy.”
