A former Google CEO is ringing the alarm on semi-conductors. Even though these chips are tiny, the former CEO says they can make America vulnerable.

After decades of leading the microelectronics industry, the United States is now almost entirely reliant on foreign sources for the production of the cutting-edge semiconductors that power all of the AI algorithms that are critical for defense systems.

The dependency on semi-conductor imports, particularly from Taiwan, creates a strategic vulnerability from adverse foreign government action, natural disaster, and other events that can disrupt the supply chains for electronics.
