A Princess’s Dream

A Princess’s Dream

Ahh, the princess archetype… Young, beautiful, gracious, cheerful, delicate, kind, humble, well mannered. Which little girl wouldn’t want to be one? The beauty of a princess, be it inside or outside, is without comparison. She attracts the most brave and powerful man in the kingdom. The princess should be rescued from great danger by a prince or a heroic knight. She would then become part of an adventure with him and live happily ever after.

All this was greatly shown in the archetypical princesses of well known fairy tales like “Snow White”, “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty”. We have been exposed to these models from early youth. Later when girls grow up, they abandon these fantasies for being “silly”. Most of them think that they are for children and not for grown up adults. But I guess deep down they still yearn to be the beautiful princess. In our world it’s hard to realize this dream.

But fortunately there is still one place where “dreams come true”. Look at this marriage proposal:

I can’t think of a better place to emulate the feeling of being a part of a fairy tale than at Disneyland. I imagine that this girl felt, for a moment, like a real princess with her prince rescuing her and taking her to his palace 🙂
