HS2 Rail: Prime Minister Accused of Having ‘Betrayed’ the North

The Transport Secretary on Thursday announced plans to scrap the Leeds leg of the HS2 high-speed rail line and curtail the Northern Powerhouse Rail. Members of Parliament from both sides of the House accused the government of breaking manifesto promises and betraying the North. There was also criticism that much of the 96 billion pounds ($130 billion) pledged Thursday has already been announced.
