Hundreds of butterflies are on display at the Conservatory of Flowers at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

Built in 1878, the conservatory is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the United States. It houses more than 2,000 plant species.

Right now, the space is home to more than flowers. Over 500 butterflies are living here for an exhibition.

There are more than 20 species of butterflies featured, including monarchs, emperors, and swallowtails.

“My father was a lepidopterist and went around the world collecting butterflies, and has maybe over 2,000 of them that he collected during his travels to China and different places so seeing this is sort of a reminder of him, for me also,” said Kathi Jenen, a visitor who also collects butterflies.

The exhibition also features information about a butterfly’s life cycle. They typically live for only one to four months.

The exhibition will continue until June 30.
