A woman charged with killing her husband searched online for “how to kill someone and not get caught,” police say.
Sandra Louis Garner, 55, from Maypearl near Dallas, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 10 in connection with the murder of her husband, Jon Garner, 42, the Midlothian Mirror reported.
Police found Mr. Garner early on Jan. 2 at his home. He had been shot once with a .38-caliber bullet, and another bullet was found in a pillowcase near his body, according to Maypearl Police Chief Boyd Norton.
Just after midnight on New Year’s Day, police received a call from Mrs. Garner saying that she had heard two gunshots and saw a masked gunman carrying a flashlight, said Norton.
She told police that the man held a grudge against her husband about “work-related matters,” said Norton. She said she gave the man $18,000 from a safe and then he made her go into a bathroom while he left. She said if she did not, he would come back and kill her.
As early as Jan. 4 Maypearl Police suspected there was more to the incident.
Norton told eParisExtra at the time: “There were rumors this was a random home invasion. We have evidence to believe that is not the case. The public should not be alarmed about their safety.”
‘How To Kill Someone and Not Get Caught’
Police searched the Nortons’ home and seized multiple electronic devices. One of these, belonging to Sandra Garner, there was a web search for “how to kill someone and not get caught.”
Investigators also discovered a .38-caliber handgun inside a Ford Mustang. It was wrapped in a paper towel inside two plastic bags, said Norton.
“Investigators noted this vehicle was searched during the first search at the residence on Jan. 2 and did not find this firearm,” Norton told the Midlothian Mirror. “It was apparent this firearm was moved to the vehicle after the initial search conducted on Jan. 2.”
The gun was sent for analysis and confirmed to match with the bullets that killed Jon Norton.
Sandra Garner was arrested on Jan. 10 and charged with the murder of her husband. Her bond has been set at $2 million.
