Illinois Bill Abolishing Cash Bail Faces Backlash From Lawmakers, Law Enforcement

Several local officials and law enforcement officers in Illinois are speaking out against a piece of criminal reform bill. The bill, which is set to go into effect on Jan. 1, 2023, will abolish the cash bail system for most offenses, restrict who can be arrested, and make it easier to get a probation.
