‘I’m Cheering for Unity’: Rep. Barr Supports Jordan for House Speaker, Says McCarthy ‘A Backup Option’

Rep. Andy Barr (R-Ky.) told reporters on Friday that he was working to get support for the new House speaker nominee Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), and that if Mr. Jordan fails to unify the Conference during the weekend, Republicans should “move on to the next round.” He recommended that Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) serve as a “backup option” for speakership.
