The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde said on Monday, April 10, that the global economy will have a more favorable outlook in 2017 and 2018 than in 2016. Despite the positive forecast, the IMF issued concerns for low productivity and excessive inequalities.
In the Berlin meeting with chiefs of leading global economic organizations, Lagarde said, “There is a positive short-term outlook on the horizon which is unfortunately tainted by the risks that are still there and that leads us to be concerned about the risk of complacency.”
German Chancellor Angela Merkel also attended the meeting, she is scheduled to meet with Lagarde and World Trade Organization Director Roberto Azevedo later.
