A very unique building stands in Bosnia that’s made entirely of wood. It’s a mosque from 1838, still in use today.
Emin Grosic, Imam of the mosque, talks about its unique features, “It is not only impressive, but it also gives an advantage to this mosque by enabling it to resist extremely strong winds in this region. If you find yourself in the mosque in the spring, when strong winds blow in this area, you can feel the mosque swaying and hear it squeaking like a wicker basket. Over the years, several weak and moderate earthquakes have hit this area, but the mosque has been resisting the forces of nature for some 180 years.”
The building was built when the Ottoman Empire still governed Bosnia. Its unique design is a product of the ingenuity of ancient times.
