There are various reasons why fish jump out of the water. However, the primary reasons seem to be because they are threatened in some way. Some fish do this naturally, during their hunt for food, while many others did this because they are hunted.
The first part of the video captured in Illinois shows the fish, believed to be Asian carp, jumping out of the water. They were frightened due to the waves made by the propellers from the boat’s motors. The boys in the video can be seen squealing in delight as the carp jumps into the boat while the man covers his face as a fish close to him, leaps into the air. A closer look at the footage shows a handful of carp have leaped right into their deck.
