India launches 31 satellites in one rocket

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched 31 satellites at once on June 23.

ISRO is India’s NASA counterpart.

ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C38) had one primary passenger.

The military’s Cartosat-2 was the most important cargo.

Packed in with it were 30 “nano-satellites” from 15 nations.

India’s space program is developing well.

The PSLV-C38 is a 144-foot-tall four-stage rocket with a gross vehicle weight of 355 tons. it has been a workhorse for the Indian space program, performing well through numerous satellite launches, including launching India’s first lunar probe.

It can carry 1.5 tons into geosynchronous orbit.

Last month ISRO launched the GSLV-MKIII, the biggest it had attempted.

Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III is a three-stage rocket.

It is 148 feet tall and weighs 705 tons. The GSLV-MKIII can carry 11 tons into low-Earth orbit or 4 tons into geosynchronous orbit.

Manned flights are expected to begin in 2020.
