Indiana Town Assures Residents Brown Water is Safe to Drink

Some residents in an Indiana town believe the water coming out of their faucets is unsafe to drink because it’s brown.

The situation in Plainfield has grown tense because the Plainfield Department of Public Works said the water was safe to drink, reported Fox 59.

One resident, who opted to remain unnamed, said the brown tap water has been appearing almost every month.

“When this happens it does stain everything. It stains the commode. It stains the tub,” she said. “I wanted to buy bottled water to take a bath.”

A spokesperson for the Public Works Department said that it’s been flushing the water in areas where people complain of discoloration. They also take samples and the spokesperson said that all samples have been falling “within drinking standards.”
