Injured elephant rescued by Indian villagers

An injured elephant was rescued by villagers in India’s northeastern Assam State.

It got stuck in a small pool of water in a waterhole in Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary located on the outskirts of capital city of Guwahati.

Locals said it had been there for five days. Many people scrambled to help the elephant.

“After examination, I observed that it is not that he is stranded he has chosen to be here. Actually in one of the hind leg he has a problem,” said Forest Officer Jintu Talukdar.

“With that three healthy limbs it is very difficult for him to bear his weight and he was in pain and found it comfortable in water and since we found him the forests department people came immediately and last three days our doctors they are attending to him,” he added.
