Chinese state media are threatening that China could start to sell their U.S. treasuries to hurt the United States. China is the world’s second-largest holder of U.S. debt.

Derek Scissors, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, covers China and U.S.-China relations. We asked him if there are ways China could hurt the United States if it pushes forward with decoupling.
