Spanish police said they intercepted a refrigerated truck in the city of Teruel in eastern Spain on Friday afternoon (March 10). The truck had eight Iraqi Kurds inside, including four children.

Owned by Transportes El Mosca, the truck carried two refugee families. One family had three children aged 5, 8, and 10 accompanied by both parents. Another family included a 2-year-old girl, her mother, and an old man. All of them were found healthy.

The truck came from Murcia in southern Spain and was heading to Zaragoza, but the final destination was the United Kingdom, Spanish police said.

The CEPAIM Foundation, a local NGO, is taking care of the refugees providing them with shelter and a translator.

The driver, a 37-year-old Romanian, was arrested and will be charged with human trafficking.
