Israel Experiencing ‘Vietnam Moment’ as War Endgame Uncertain and International, Domestic Pressures Build: Analyst

The Israel Defense Forces are engaged in heavy combat in the Hamas terrorist stronghold of Khan Yunis in Southern Gaza. Domestic and international pressure against the Israeli war effort is mounting, however, as the International Court of Justice stopped just short of pushing for a cessation of hostilities in a ruling on Jan. 26.

To find out more, NTD spoke to retired Lt. Col. Sargis Sangari, a military strategist and the CEO of the Near East Center for Strategic Engagement. So where is the war leading Israel against an enemy that has “nothing to lose?”

Mr. Sangari believes that Israel may be experiencing its “Vietnam moment”—winning every military battle, but slowly ceding ground politically and losing the appetite for war on the home front.
