Senate leader Chuck Schumer is calling for new elections in Israel. In a speech on the Senate floor on Thursday, he criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and warned Israel not to reject a two-state solution.
The Democratic Senator is now facing backlash for his comments, and a statement from the White House said the Senate leader was speaking for himself. NTD spoke to Amit Halevi, a member of Netanyahu’s Likud Party in the Knesset, who said Mr. Schumer’s comment comparing the Israeli prime minister to the leaders of Hamas “is not only ridiculous, I think it’s a real shame.”
