First Daughter Ivanka Trump is denouncing the brutal violence that occurred at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va. over the weekend.
Ivanka went on Twitter Sunday morning to address the violence that started on Friday when groups of hundreds of white nationalists and neo-Nazis rallied onto the University of Virginia’s campus with torches.
She said in a series of tweets that Americans must unite under one country.
The first daughter’s tweets come after the President Donald Trump condemned the violence in a New Jersey press conference saying “many sides” were at fault.
“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides,” he said.
The President continued, saying that these type of events have not been a new occurrence.
“It’s been going on for a long time in our country. Not Donald Trump, not Barack Obama. This has been going on for a long, long time,” he said.
Top Republicans voiced their approval of the President’s addressing the events that unfollowed in Charlottesville.
“Very important for the nation to hear [President Trump] describe events in Charlottesville for what they are, a terror attack by white supremacists,” Rubio said on Twitter.
The violent chaos first started when a large group of white nationalists came together in Charlottesville to rally against plans to remove a Confederate statue. Hundreds of counter protesters also joined—resulting in brawls and violence in the street. The governor declared a state of emergency as police arrived and forced people to leave, according to ABC News.
Three people were killed and 19 people were injured during the clashes. One of the three people died when a car plowed through a group of people. The other two people, Virginia State Police Department officers, died after their helicopter crashed into the woods nearby, ABC News Reports.

White House Advisor Ivanka Trump will lead the U.S. delegation to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in India this November, President Donald Trump, her father, announced on Twitter Thursday, Aug. 10.
“Ivanka Trump will lead the U.S. delegation to India this fall, supporting women’s entrepreneurship globally,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited Ivanka Trump to India during his visit to the White House in June, according to The Hill. Modi sent a Twitter message to more than 30 million of his followers on Thursday saying that he looks forward to Ivanka Trump’s visit.
“The summit is a unique opportunity for bringing together entrepreneurs and startups with global leaders,” Modi wrote.
The president’s daughter, who will turn 36 in October, is well suited to lead the delegation to the entrepreneurship summit having started and developed several businesses of her own.
Trump started her line of jewelry in 2007. The pieces are sold in more than 60 stores throughout the United States and Canada, in addition to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, according to the company website.
Trump also developed an eponymous line of fashion items, including handbags, clothes, and shoes.
The three-day summit will take place on Nov. 28 in Hyderabad, India. It is meant to “connect American entrepreneurs and investors with international counterparts to form lasting relationships,” according the State Department website.
Ivanka Trump plans to use the forum to advance her work on empowering women economically, which is one of the key issues in her work at the White House. She recently met with military spouses to discuss their unique employment challenges.
Stressing how difficult it is to maintain employment when families have to move at a moment’s notice, she said that the people in the White House “are committed to supporting you and ensuring that you have every opportunity to find success in our economy,” CNN reported.
She published her second book, titled “Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success” in May this year. The book offers advice to women who seek to achieve self-actualization and find a work-life balance, among other topics.
During the G-20 summit she took her father’s seat, when the president had to depart for a short meeting.

President Donald Trump rebuffed the effectiveness of Russian President Vladimir Putin expelling U.S. diplomats during a security briefing at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club on Thursday, Aug. 10.
Trump was asked about Russia’s July 30 announcement that hundreds of U.S. diplomatic staff will be expelled as Putin forces a reduction in the U.S. diplomatic corps there from 1,200 to 755.
Trump suggested the cuts were to the U.S.’s advantage.
“I want to thank him because we are trying to cut down our payroll,” said Trump.
The comment effectively denies Putin’s expulsion will have any effect on the United States.
“There is no real reason for them to go back,” Trump said of the diplomats being expelled.
“We’ll save a lot of money.”
The payroll reduction Trump referenced comes from the budget the White House set out for 2018.
Titled America First A Budget Blueprint to Make America Great Again, the budget proposes a 28 percent cut for the State Department and USAID—a target that requires significant staff reductions and a smaller diplomatic footprint.
While the 755 staff reduction will force many American’s out of the country, many of those let go will be Russian nationals.
Trump’s comment echoes his previously stated sentiments toward the amount of money and government attention directed outside the country.
Trump’s Position
During his campaign, Trump emphasized retooling federal spending and foreign policy, including trade and security policy, toward efforts that will support the American economy as well as national security.
“My foreign policy will always put the interests of the American people and American security above all else. It has to be first. Has to be,” Trump said in his campaign foreign policy speech in April 2016.
Trump has described U.S. foreign policy as a disaster that focused on democracy building in countries with no tradition of democracy and half-baked military interventions that destroyed functional governments and created chaos in many Middle Eastern countries.
“We tore up what institutions they had and then were surprised at what we unleashed: Civil war, religious fanaticism, thousands of Americans and just killed be lives, lives, lives wasted. Horribly wasted. Many trillions of dollars were lost as a result. ”
Trump’s position remained unchanged immediately after the election.
“We will stop racing to topple foreign regimes that we know nothing about, that we shouldn’t be involved with,” Trump told a large crowd in North Carolina, near the Fort Bragg military base, during his “thank-you tour” shortly after the election.
“Instead, our focus must be on defeating terrorism and destroying ISIS, and we will,” he said.
Trump has emphasized that money invested in wars would be better spent on infrastructure, including America’s aging roads, bridges and airports.
Trump has since softened his rhetoric and has developed a more nuanced position toward U.S. military operations overseas, though his general position on foreign spending is the same.
Trump’s budget proposes a nearly one-third cut in U.S. bilateral foreign aid, which includes funding for the United Nations, World Bank, and the State Department’s diplomatic duties.
The cuts, and Trump’s comments in regard to Putin’s expulsions, fall in line with his comments during the campaign, including efforts to retool trade deals that have often contributed to U.S. trade deficits.
“We’re rebuilding other countries while weakening our own,” said Trump in April 2016.
