On a snowy day, we see a young girl waiting alone at a remote train station in Japan.
For years, this train station stayed opened for just one passenger - a high school student living on the northernmost island of Hokkaido.
Even though commuters using the Kyu-Shirataki station had dramatically fallen, the Japan Railways kept the station operational for this young passenger to get to school.
The train only stopped there twice a day: once, to take the girl to school, and again to take her home.
The station’s two departure times was based on the girl’s schedule: one was 7:04 a.m. when she caught the train to school; the other was 5:08 p.m. when she returned from school.
The station only just closed last March when the girl graduated from high school.
