Japanese Delegation Visits China Amid Slowing Trade

Despite semiconductor disputes, Beijing is looking to improve its ties with Japan by aiming for more business cooperation between them.

On Tuesday, a Japanese business delegation visited Beijing to meet with senior Chinese officials after seeing weakened Japanese exports to China.

China is Japan’s largest trade partner, but those numbers have been on the decline for five months in a row.

To combat that, Chinese Premier Li Qiang praised the delegation’s effort in promoting cross-border business.

According to a Japanese news agency, the Premier offered his support for expanding Japan’s investments in China.

At the same time, the delegation’s leader voiced concerns, mainly that China’s revised Anti-Espionage Law could dampen business development.
