Japanese Minister: China Uses ‘Logic of Brute Force’

During a visit to Washington on July 29, Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi sounded the alarm about China’s behavior in the Indo-Pacific.

“The logic of brute force is gaining more traction over the rule of law, and the strategic balance in the region is increasingly challenging for Japan and the United States,” he said.

Hayashi emphasized that the Indo-Pacific is home to more than half of the world’s population, and accounts for nearly 60 percent of global GDP—calling it “the growth engine of the world, a region filled with potential.”
