House Democrats vow to push for stronger gun laws on the anniversary of the Sandy Hook mass shooting.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries was joined by several other Democratic members to highlight the need for more legislation and the unwillingness of Republicans to work with them.

“Today the MAGA extremists and the do-nothing Republican Congress are leaving town without meaningfully addressing the gun violence epidemic in America or any other issue of significance,” said Jeffries from the steps of the Capitol.

“We are here as House Democrats to make it clear that we will continue to speak up. We will continue to show up. We will continue to stand up. We will not rest until we end the gun violence epidemic in the United States of America.”

In 2012, 20 children and six educators were killed by a gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
